Pickleball Quilt Pattern: Choosing Fabric

Pickleball Quilt Pattern: Choosing Fabric

Yay! It's the first week of the Pickle Party QAL! Let's talk about fabric! I've made 2 versions of the quilt so far and I can't wait to sew another one along with you! Of the two I've made, one featured solids and one featured prints. I honestly can't decide which one I love more!

If you're looking for the pattern, you can find it HERE!

The pattern is written for 4 colors of paddles repeated 4 times for a total of 16 blocks, but I think doing 16 different paddles is so much fun, too! The Kona Solids I used in the cover quilt are: Surf, Kale, Sassy Pink, Creamsicle, Natural, Roasted Pecan, Caramel, Acid Lime, Sour Apple, and Orchid Ice. They are listed in the pattern, so you can find which is which there!
Pear Tree Market has kits available for the cover version!
For my Ruby Star version, I used a Fat Quarter Bundle of RSS Rise and Shine and I paired a coordinating Kona Solid for the accent on each paddle. These are the Kona Solid Accents:
I just ordered a quarter yard of each and had more than enough for the accent on each paddle. I used Mini Neon Pink Starry for the background and it makes it so much fun!
The thing I love about this quilt is that the paddles are large, so they're great for showcasing bold, or large scale prints. Pickleball paddles are so fun and playful, so pull out those amazing FQs you've been saving, but haven't known what to do with!

For this QAL, I'm using Connecting Threads Solids. I'm really impressed with the quality and the thing I love most about them is that each Connecting Thread Solid has an exact thread match by the same name, so online shopping and color matching is easy peasy.
I wanted to spice the solids up a little, so I'm planning on hacking the pattern to do something extra fun with the paddles (more on that soon).
Here's a link to the Instagram Live where I show the fabrics I'll be using for my QAL quilt!
