Marguerite Quilt Templates

Big news! Cutting your fabric for Marguerite just got a million times easier! I teamed up with Cut Once Quilts to produce some acrylic templates and I'm positively giddy about how much more user friendly they will make the cutting process!

Here are my best tips for using the templates:

Add some non slip pads to the bottom of the template. These are the ones I like | LINK . They keep the template from slipping as you cut and that will, in turn, make your cuts much more accurate. They have adhesive on one side so you just stick them onto the bottom of your ruler or template. I did 2 on the petal piece, and 3  on the background piece.

Use a rotating cutting mat. This one is my favorite | LINK . These are funky shaped pieces and you can get into some weird body ergonomics trying to cut them out. If you move the mat, rather than your body or the fabric as you cut, it's so much easier.

Use a smaller rotary cutter. I love my tiny 18 mm | LINK but you may prefer this 28 mm one | LINK. Standard Rotary Cutters are 45 mm, FYI. The smaller blade gives you a lot more control as you ease around the curves.

Finally, my best tip is to take it slowly and enjoy the process. This isn't a quick quilt--remember you're making an heirloom and it's okay if that takes time. Good luck on your Marguerite journey! It's worth it, promise 😉
