Introducing Flirty Gertie, my Valentine quilt pattern. She's equal parts sweet and nostalgic and I just love everything about her! She's what I imagine an elementary school Valentine box would look like if it were a quilt. I love having seasonal quilts to pull out throughout the year to make holidays and special events extra memorable (and cozy!) I hope Flirty Gertie is a welcome addition to your collection of Valentine quilts!
About the Pattern
The pattern is for a square throw size quilt measuring 68.5"x68.5". It's a medallion style quilt, assembled from the middle heart outward, by adding the XOXO and scalloped borders. I've rated it a 3/5, or intermediate difficulty level due to the curved piecing of the scallops, and snowballed corners, however, the written instructions and diagrams in the pattern are detailed and thorough, so if you're more beginner-ish, don't feel intimidated! I know you can tackle Flirty Gertie!
Here are the fabric requirements for the pattern:
Cover Quilt
For the cover quilt I wanted to go with very traditional, sweet Valentine colors. I used Ruby + Bee Solids by Windham Fabrics in Blush, Wisp, Perfect Pink, Vervain, Dragon Fruit, Salvia, and Fairy Floss.
I hope you enjoy making Flirty Gertie as much as I enjoyed designing it!
